| Tiivistelmä: | Though cross-strait politics remains in deep freeze, China and Taiwan are moving closer on many fronts. The two sides are discussing aviation and maritime ties, as well as joint exploration of the oil and the exchange of legal and financial information. An interim measure would be a transshipment center that would allow vessels from both Taiwan and China to provide direct services. Now Taiwan Premier Lien Chan has proposed a special zone encompassing manufacturing and export-processing. Yet the plan seems to have generated little interest. |
