Tiivistelmä:Newly founded firms are credited with the creation of a disproportionate share of new jobs, innovation, economic flexibility and economic growth. On the other hand, there is a large number of business failures each year, especially of young firms. While numerous studies examine the ability of accounting data to classify failing and non-failing firms right before failure, these studies mostly restrict themselves to mature, listed firms. In this paper we examine whether the start-up manner influences the survival of new firms.
