| Tiivistelmä: | The authors answer the question how corporate social responsibility and sustainable development does relate to the creation of business value. In this paper, first the authors offer a range of contemporary business stories to ground the authors' discussion, and to illustrate some emerging forms of discourse in what some commentators refer to as the 'new' or 'network economy'. The authors then present a simple navigational tool that the authors believe will assist managers in navigating the relationship between business and society in the context of value creation. By way of illustration the authors relate the authors' stories to that tool. Finally, the authors discuss the theoretical and practical implications of the authors' arguments. |
