Tiivistelmä:This article examines gender differences in the impact of paid and unpaid productive activities on well-being. Recent data from Canada show how much time women and men (aged 25-54) spend on paid work, household work, volunteering, education etc. Multivariate analysis suggests that due to women's greater hours of unpaid work women experience more stress than men. Hours spent on eldercare and housework are more stressful than hours spent on childcare. These data indicate that women more than men use strategies such as self-employment to improve work-life balance.
