| Tiivistelmä: | Horizontal mergers exert price pressure on dependent suppliers, affecting adversely their performance. Concentrated suppliers and those with greater barriers to entry encounter larger price declines after consolidation (here as: cons.) downstream. Time-series results suggest that cons. in dependent supplier industries (as: inds.) follows mergers in main customer inds. Broadly, the findings are consistent with the business community's beliefs about the buying power effecting of horizontal mergers. |
