| Tiivistelmä: | Many USA firms are developing senior teams whose members share responsibility for strategic and operational planning. This organizational form has emerged in response to increasingly complex internal and external demands, as well as to the timeless problem of executive succession. The core defining characteristics of an executive team are described. Three distinct scenarios of team building are presented. Some notable differences between senior teams and other teams are listed and assessed. A model is developed to show what contributes to effectiveness and what type of teamwork is needed in different situations. This model will help business leaders to match strategic needs with team focus. |
