Tiivistelmä:Leadership and management are two distinctive and complementary systems of action. The difference between management and leadership is explained. Their functions and characteristics are separately analyzed and then contrasted. Management controls people by pushing them in the right direction; leadership motivates them by satisfying basic human needs. Some ways of motivating people are described. Corporations that do a better-then-average job of developing leaders put an emphasis on creating challenging opportunities for relatively young employees. Institutionalizing a leadership-centered culture is the ultimate act of leadership. Well-led businesses tend to implement strategies that help to create strong leadership.
