| Tiivistelmä: | The paper describes anti-trust-policy of the Japanese government. It reviews the development of the anti-trust-law and its amendments since 1947 when the law was enacted on the request of the occupation forces. The author distinguishes six periods in the history of the law. As a result the investigative system was improved, exemptions from the law were repealed, measures against cartels and oligopolies were sharpened, and fines for violations of the law were increased significantly. The issue of institutional and political independence of the FTC is touched upon. |
