Not only in the domestic market, but also in export markets, design competition has become a major factor in commercial success. However, copying is increasingly seen as a commercial threat to design-conscious firms. Copyright protection for surface design, enshrined in the legal system in the UK and elsewhere, is a major asset in enabling firms to challenge cases of design infringement. |
