| Tiivistelmä: | The National Centre for Product Design & Development Research (PDR) has produced case study material based on more than 20 successful Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs). This paper highlights design and development opportunities within SMEs, providing a rationale for knowledge transfer. There are 4 issues characterizing design challenges within SMEs: 1. impact of owner-manager, 2. resource-contsrained environment, 3. need for and effective design process, and 4. promoting a company vision for change and innovation. 12 exemplar KTP case studies are employed. |
