| Tiivistelmä: | The impact of the profound changes that have taken place in the higher education sector on academic staff in the UK is assessed in this paper. The perceptions of staff about their work and employment are examined through evidence provided by a recent large-scale survey. The discussion draws on a labour process perspective. It is found that the views of staff are far from homogenous and not universally pessimistic. |
