Tiivistelmä: | This paper is based on a pilot study examining Canadian researchers. The aim of the pilot study was to find out what effects recent organizational and public policy changes have on Canadian academics' work practices as well as their academic culture. This article sets out to examine how women and male researchers differ in their use of online technologies in controlling these effects. The findings of the analysis indicate that academics suffer from a lack of time for reflective reading and in-depth conversations. It was also found that academics nowadays often have trouble differentiating between the relevant and the irrelevant. Women researchers were found to have more doubts about the current fragmentation of working time and energy than men. More research on the topic is called for. |
