Tiivistelmä:Role conflict is endemic to most professions, particularly those working in organizations as staff officers such as corporate solicitors, internal auditors and personnel officers (whistle-blowers), whose role is generally constructive and friendly but may sometimes become negative and unpalatable. A series of case studies of whistle-blowers suggests that most suffer harm of one sort or another, however justified their cause is. Research results show that the average whistle-blower in all other respect could be regarded as a model employee. Organizations should try to harness the energies of their whistle-blowers. A suiutable code of practice can assist in this. Protection under the law is better in the USA than in the UK.
