| Tiivistelmä: | The forerunner of soap opera was the radio series broadcast by US and British radio stations already a few decades ago. In the 1950s the first soap operas were transmitted on television first at day-time, later at prime time. Topic, characters and story vary from country to country. Its popularity is but undeniable. It appeared also in Europe. |
