| Tiivistelmä: | The literature on capital structure has both a theoretical and an empirical side. An excellent survey of the literature can be found in Harris and Raviv (1991) whose goal was a summary of both aspects of the literature as it existed at the beginning of the 1990s. Theoretical progress made since the famous "irrelevance theorem" of Modigliani and Miller has been substantial. Perusing Harris and Raviv, one can find a number of general principles that have been repeatedly tried to analyze certain aspects of enterprise financing. |
