| Tiivistelmä: | This paper addresses some of the potential conflicts between rapid integration into the European Union and engineering catch-up modernization by focusing on exchange-rate policies. By combining real and nominal convergence issues with institutional change following EU accession, the author sketches a novel perspective on the debate regarding the desirable post-accession transition regime for EiTs, given their economic, political, and social realities. |
