| Tiivistelmä: | Does it still pay to assume the responsibility for management? More and more young people are asking themselves this question. A convincing and positive answer is provided. The roles of a specialist and those of a manager are compared. Two types of demand for leadership are specified. The meaning of the term "purpose" is explained. It is shown why and how managers are seeking and communicating purpose in their everyday managerial activities. The relationship between successful and purposeful leadership is examined. Some sources of commitment of managers and employees are highlighted. The problems of searching for personal purpose and self-development are discussed. |
