Tiivistelmä: | This study investigates the antecedents of two different modes of executive information systems (EIS) use and also examines their implications for perceived performance changes. Two common modes of EIS use are scanning or browsing of data, and focused search or seeking answers to well-defined problems or to specific questions. The results suggest that when executives focus their use of EIS to to solve well-defined problems or answer specific questions, they help to make the organization more efficient. An EIS may also lead an executive to challenge fundamental managerial assumptions when using it to scan through information without having specific questions in mind. |
