Tiivistelmä: | In many Western countries, the Internet has become an important channel through which international business activities take place. However, in China e-commerce is still in its infancy. Over the past 20 years, China's economy has grown rapidly. Developing international e-commerce has been a key initiative of the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) economic liberalization project. Although foreign investment in e-commerce is not allowed in China at present, foreign investors are likely to flood into this huge market after WTO entry. Internet connections were first allowed in 1994; by the end of October, the number of Internet users reached 620,000. Growth since has been exponential; at the end of June 2000, there were 16.9 million Internet subscribers and 27,289 websites in China. |
