Market size fell from 1.34 bn of pounds sterling in 1990 to 1.08 bn in 1991 and is likely to have sunk below 1 bn of pounds sterling in 1992. The whole market is at the mercy of an economic situation in which audio equipment is far from being a priority purchase. Imports, mostly from the Far East, account for the vast majority of sales. Detailed statistics on ownership of audio equipment, sales, consumption of domestic audio, TV and video equipment, imports and advertising expenditures are presented. |
