Tiivistelmä:The market for dried herbs and spices was worth 60m pounds in 1992. A slight increase is expected in 1994. Volume sales of herbs and spices slipped to 88m units in 1993, down from 92m units in 1990. A change in pack size and design is responsible for some of the fall. Imports of spices increased to 19.2m pounds and exports rose to 7m pounds. Schwartz is the brand leader in the market with an estimated 50% of value sales. Most promotional expenditure by herbs and spices suppliers is below the line.
