| Tiivistelmä: | Uncertainty is a key feature of these durables markets in 1994. Some indications of upturn in the U.K. economy have been evident for almost two years, including increases in GDP, and quarterly levels of business failure reported by Trade Indemnity below year-earlier levels. Nevertheless, and despite repeated lowering of interest rates, consumer confidence has responded uncertainly. At the end of 1993 the hoped-for Christmas rush did not materialise for many trades until the last few days before the holiday. |
