| Tiivistelmä: | This article examines retail systems. In summary, retail systems seem to be developing along these lines: the normal offer will include a full retail system of hardware, software and communications , and not just point of sale or back office equipment; the emphasis is increasingly on software quality and, particularly, on service and maintenance; lip service to open systems is being backed by serious efforts to make the reality match the promise; being able to offer trouble-free plug and play systems to enable rapid use of new applications will be an important competitive point in the future. |
