| Tiivistelmä: | In this review the authors outline the prospects for consumer spending over the next two to three years. In addition, they take a longer term view by considering probable growth patterns in consumption to 2005. Consumer spending played an important part in supporting the economy in 1996, helped by the rises in personal disposable incomes, which were boosted by last year's income tax cuts. Prospects for consumer spending in 1997 are most encouraging, with an expansion in spending of over 4 per cent predicted to take place. |
