Tiivistelmä: | This paper summarizes the research reported in this special edition using the five categories postulated to characterise mode 2 research. From the papers analysed it identifies five challenges facing mode 2 management research in action. Finally, the paper uses speculative work by van Aken to offer a vision of management research as a design science, serving academic need for rigour and research quality and practitioner requirements for relevance and applicability of findings. Management knowledge developed in mode 2 (M2K) was argued at the start of this special edition to have a number of distinct characteristics. Problems are set and solved in the context of application using a transdisciplinary approach. |
