Tiivistelmä: | The article considers the study of organizational culture from the anthropological perspective and concentrates on how culture and business transformation are connected. The authors use Mary Douglas model of culture grid and group (G/G) from the 1970s as a framework in analyzing the cultural changes that are vital for successful business transformation. A large case study of an engineering and aerospace company in the UK is used to demonstrate this. The necessary cultural changes have been generated through different strategies like TQM, development of organizational and managerial competencies and information systems. The authors compare the G/G model to other models, and assess the potential limitations and problems of applying a cultural typology approach to the analysis of organizations. |
