Well, you can always use 'good engineering judgment', which is based on knowledge, experience, and guts. Another method involves a more systematic approach known as statistical experimental design, or Design of Experiments (DOE). This article shows an applied example of how simulation can be used to experiment with a production system, and how DOE can be used to plan the experiments and analyse the results. |
