Tiivistelmä:The demand for productivity, cost reduction, and optimal allocation of resources has demanded motivated continuous research in the modelling and optimization of manufacturing systems. This paper develops an algorithm for the optimal repair and buffer allocation of unreliable production lines with random or constant processing times. The goal is to minimize the operating cost of the system, expressed in terms of the average production rate, and the cost of repair effort allocated to machines, when the budget for storage is limited.
