| Tiivistelmä: | The rice market is dominated by long grain rice, accounting for 72% of sales. The growth in sales of basmati and speciality rices is a particular feature of the market. Boil-in-the-bag and frozen products are a small but dynamic sector. Short grain, or pudding, rice is in long term decline. In the pulses sector, the most popular varieties are lentils, followed by yellow split peas, soup and broth mixes, butter beans and red kidney beans. Household consumption of rice is still very low in the UK. |
