Tiivistelmä:Most categories have witnessed an increase in consumption levels although overall consumption of fresh fruit and vegetables has not changed a great deal in volume terms over the last 20 years. Despite the ever-increasing range of fruit and vegatables on offer at supermarkets and despite the known health benefits and the promotional efforts of the industry, consumption in the UK still lags far behind many Continental countries. Fruit and vegetables are a mature market with high household penetration levels. The overall decline of the wholesale market sector has continued under the relentless pressure of the supermarkets. The survey presents consumption patterns , supplier information, distribution, advertising and promotion, prices, packaging and prospects, especially in the United Kingdom. Some references on European markets are also included.
