Pasta has become increasingly accepted as the basis of a meal in its own right, buoyed by the introduction of specific pasta sauces, advertising and increased number of Italian-style restaurants. Greater consumer demand for convenience and quick-to-prepare foods has benefited the pasta market, and a series of promotions by leading outlets has also encouraged volume growth. Euromonitor predicts that the retail market for pasta will grow by a modest 3.8% in real value terms to total Ptas36,879.4 million at constant 1997 prices by the year 2002.
