Tiivistelmä: | This survey is concerned with the market of dry shell batteries which are used in a wide range of personal and portable appliances. In 1996 the retail market for dry shell batteries amounted to 476 mn units with a value of 425 mn pounds. The market has expanded only modestly in the 1990s. Two branded manufacturers account for around two-thirds of the value of the market with a third dominating the important own-label segment, which accounts for about 30% of unit demand. In 1996 manufacturers spent over 5 mn pounds on advertising their products. In 1997 several substantial marketing and advertising campaigns have taken place. |
