Tiivistelmä:Understanding audience overlap across performing arts events can help with management decisions related to cross-promotion, collaborative ventures, scheduling coordination, outreach and programming priorities. The authors analyse attendance at theatre, symphony, opera, choral music and dance performances using a survey of 10,749 adult Canadians. Three findings are of interest: (1) there is significant degree of audience overlap among the five categories of performing arts, (2) opera-goers are the most likely and theatre-goers the least likely to attend other types of performing arts events, with symphony, choral music and dance audiences btw. the two extremes, and (3) audience members who most frequently attend one type of event represent disproportionately large share of those who most frequently attend other types of events.
