| Tiivistelmä: | An important operations management decision is to determine the optimum combination of repairpersons and standby units needed to maintain units of machines in operation. The need to maintain standby units and repairpersons is caused by uncertainties associated with equipment failures leading to high operational costs. The performance of the operating system can be improved by standby units and/or repairpersons as protection against failure. Thus, developing an efficient maintenance float policy will aid in minimizing the cost of lost production. |
