| Tiivistelmä: | In their Journal of Consumer Policy article, Hansen and Schoenheit (1986)concluded that Consumer Affairs Departments (or CADs ) offer potential for improving organizational performance in the market place and that the transferability to the European context would be warranted. In this article, the development of CADs are traced and analyzed in the USA and the Netherlands based on 14 case studies. Based on a comparative analysis it is conjectured that the application of information technology and communication technology, and personnel management style could be considered as major determinants of differences with regard to CADs in the countries mentioned. The article is concluded with a number of building blocks that organizations may use in preparing their CADs for the next decade. |
