| Tiivistelmä: | The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the effect of fiscal institutions of federalism and democracy on the size of government. The empirical analysis uses data drawn from the Swiss sub-national goverments, which are very diverse in their institutional background and therefore represent a natural laboratory for such an investigation. |
