| Tiivistelmä: | A large research project was carried out to gain a better understanding about tourists' views on sustainable tourism activities. 4399 visitors to the Blue Ridge National Heritage Area, western North Carolina in the USA, took part to the travel preference survey. Various demographic categories were used to segment the guest. The findings highlighted the importance of segmentation, because there were clear differences between age groups. The youngest visitors favored agritourism and farm visiting, whereas outdoor recreation was popular among older tourists and the oldest valued music and cultural and heritage tourism. |
