| Tiivistelmä: | The patterns of tariff and non-tariff protection in developed and developing countries are compared. Developing country import restrictions are found to be rather extensive. Tariffs and non-tariff barriers are analysed in the fields where developing countries' exports are coto be rather extensive. Tariffs and non-tariff barriers are analysed in the fields where developing countries' exports are concentrated. Departures from multilateral treatment are discussed. Tariff distribution is analysed by means of GATT data. Statistics are presented about tariff averages in developed countries. A table is showing tariffs according to processing chains. The background of tariff and trade barriers escalation is highlighted. |
