| Tiivistelmä: | Some important factors that has been influencing strategic planning since 1974 are reviewed: inflation rates, currency exchange rates, wage costs, unemployment, pollution, political instability etc. Several company examples are described in brief (PLM, Shell, Ciba-Geigy, Melk Unie etc). Fundamental changes in planning practice comprise: purpose, main task, assumptions, philosophy, format, components, input, timing, personal and organizational requirements. In order to cope with the changing economic environment planning has come to involve many more people. At the same time, it has become simpler and more flexible, and giving much more attention to the groups on which the company is dependent. |
