| Tiivistelmä: | Power can be defined as the need to get people to do what one wants. The question as to whether women differ from men in their need for power, on the employee and the management level. According to an empirical study in Switzerland male and female employees showed similar values, whereas female managers ranked lowest on a scale of directive attitude. Various explanations for these findings are discussed and several strategies are developed to help close the gender gap in management. |
