| Tiivistelmä: | The role of shareholders in the corporate governance process and the good and bad news about shareholder avenues for involvement are examined. There are many ways in which shareholder involvement in the corporate governance process could be increased. Shareholders must take steps to achieve this and this will require dramatic changes in the processes by which they interact with management. Current programs offer a little more than "silent partner" status to shareholders, and working within a system where shareholders never win will mean changes never occur. However, some dramatic changes may be seen in the sound systems connecting shareholders to managers. |
