| Tiivistelmä: | Thr article is the first part of a series which deals with the problems of human resource management in Germany. The first part focuses on the question of fair wages. Personnel policy and human resource management of several renowned German enterprises /3M, Henkel, dm, Mercedes-Benz/ are analyzed, and the systems of performance estimation and payment are examined in this context. It is found that the good old times of the harmonic partnership between management and employees are over, human resource management and payment systems are all outdated in Germany, and there is an urgent need to reform them. |
