| Tiivistelmä: | The need for technology assessment in Europe is clear, but the question is how the political dilemmas of the organization of its process can be resolved? In practice, this process leads to four main variants, each with its specific consequences for the character of technology assessment research. These variants can be briefly described as governmental, parliamentary, and independent institutes, and combined forms of institutionalization. There are several reasons why technology assessment finds limited use by policy makers. Discussions reached beyond the small community of supporters. |
