Tiivistelmä:Over the period under review new divisions within the population have occurred according to the differences in income level and disposable wealth, a rising level of unemployment and the increasing number of those starting their own businesses. One of the principal factors influencing the domestic food market is European policy. Between 1989 and 1991 consumption of food in Poland was approximately 37% of overall consumption in Poland. The most severe shortages occur in the following areas: beef, veal, poultry (except chicken), fresh water fish.
