Tiivistelmä:During the past two to three years the transition to a market economy resulted in the diversification of the food supply. However, as a consequence of a restrictive monetary policy aimed at fighting inflation and stimulating exports, demand on the domestic market of consumer goods including food was depressed. Retail distribution is outdated and inefficient. The ongoing privatization of shops will contribute to the modernisation of this sector.
