Tiivistelmä:As is the case with many other kinds of consumer goods, the market for books in most developed countries is mature and has shown little growth in real terms in recent years. A period of economic recession across all major markets has not helped improve book sales. However, so long as very sizable minorities of the adult population of these countries neither read nor buy books there will be great scope for the expansion of the market. Recessionary pressure in several of the key markets has continued to have an impact on market values and resulted in real-term contraction.
