Tiivistelmä: | This report examines the international retail market for oral hygiene in France, Italy, the UK, Germany and Spain under period 1992-1996 for current data and 1996-2001 for the future outlook. A generally higher level of awareness amongst German consumers of the benefits of regular dental care is responsible for the relative strength of oral hygiene sales, at USD1,221 million in 1996. On the other hand, in Spain the lack of knowledge has impeded expansion of oral hygiene sales, amounted to just USD309 million in 1996. Recent oral hygiene value growth has been characterized by a combination of price competition and premium-orientated segmentation. The polarisation has had a significant influence on the value of the growth experienced in 1996 by the key markets. |
