Tiivistelmä:This report analyses the soft drinks market in Western Europe. For the purposes of the study, the market has been divided into seven sectors: carbonates; fruit/vegetable juice; bottled water; functional drinks; concentrates; ready-to-drink (RTD) tea; ready-to-drink (RTD) coffee. The market for soft drinks in Western Europe was relatively buoyant in 1999, with sales positively affected by robust demand for mainstream products such as bottled water and fruit/vegetable juice, as well as strong growth in sales of niche products, specifically functional drinks and RTD tea. Sales of soft drinks in Western Europe stood at 77.4 billion litres in 1999, following a rise of over 4% on the previous year. Value sales reached US$98.1 billion in the same year, a more modest rise of just over 1% on 1998. The weak euro did not help growth in US$ terms.
