Tiivistelmä:This paper focuses on the factors that may mediate the success or failure of employee involvement practices, especially the role played by middle managers. A survey examined the perceived outcomes of different employee involvement practices and the support or resistance attributed to middle managers. The results suggest that, although middle managment resistance to employee involvement is a barrier to success, it is also a symptom of problems at the organizational level. If organizations wish to enlist the support of middle managers for employee involvement initiatives they must pay attention to wider organizational systems.
