| Tiivistelmä: | The purpose of network approaches is usually categorized as either analytical or "aiming at mapping" ways of governance (Powell and Smith-Doerr, 1994). The authors want instead to point out here the general strength of the network metaphor in terms of its bridging function: between social and economic dimensions of human contact, between different disciplines and methodologies, between the academic community and the world of practice. |
